When you go online or look at ads for electronics stores, you will probably be able to find a computer that will be just right for you. There are many types and styles available on the market. You can find a computer that will take up a whole room in your house, while you can also find a computer that will fit into the palm of your hand! At a business, you will probably find a mainframe computer. In your workplace or at home you will normally find a desktop computer. In the airport, the person sitting next to you could be working on a laptop computer or handheld computer. So, when you find yourself looking for a computer for your own personal use, you know you will have a lot to choose from.

When looking for a home computer, nowadays called a personal computer, you will find it is made up of several parts. There will be a box sitting on your desk, black, gray or beige in color. This is your actual computer, containing everything from the microprocessor to the memory, the storage to the input/output devices. You can't work with just the "computer" alone, though. There are accessories that go along with your computer like the monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. Other attachments you might find are printers and digital video cameras.

If you want to buy a computer, it is good to know that there are two separate categories of computers: PCs and Macs.

- A PC is a computer modeled after components and standards created by the IBM Company. A rather high percentage of all personal computers, shown at somewhere over 90%, are PCs. Some companies that sell PC computers are IBM, Dell, Compac, and Gateway.

- A Mac computer is a personal computer made by the Apple Company. MacIntosh was its most popular style of computer several years ago. The new IMacs are popular with die-hard Mac fans, although not as many people today use Mac computers as used to.

A personal computer in your home can be used for many things, including word processing chores, personal and business letter writing, financial records and planning, internet searching, photography, and many other types of functions like graphic design and publishing. For the younger crowd, a personal computer can also be used to listen to music, watch movies or play detailed video games.

The basic elements of your personal computer that you choose, like the processor, amount of RAM, floppy or CD-Rom disk drives, hard disk drive, sound card, speakers, monitor, modem and graphics card will be determined by what kind of computer user you plan to be. Heavy users of complex programs will need much more "stuff" on their computer than the average computer user. Once you've determined how much of everything you need, you will be able to calculate an average cost for the computer you want.

Do You Dream BIG Dreams For Your Online Business?

Do You Dream BIG Dreams For Your Online Business?

Word Count:
633

Summary:
Action can and should be very small changes in your belief, and to your habits - each and every week... and before you know it, you'll be dreaming bigger and bigger dreams...

Keywords:
financial freedom, making money, making money online, online business, online home based business

Article Body:
I received an e-mail from someone this week, and it became apparent to me that he simply didn't believe that he could make anything work... He didn't believe that he could start making the money that he told me he wanted to make...

He WANTED to make it, but he didn't BELIEVE he could!

I'm a strong believer in the saying that you are where you want to be... For example, you live where you do because you choose to, and you earn as much as you do because that's what you've chosen to earn...

'Hold on! I want to earn more than I do at the moment...' I hear you cry!!

Well, I've been there too and unless I changed my belief and my habits (good or bad)... nothing was ever going to change.

Indeed, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...

So, how did I, and how do you, make changes to what we believe... and, in turn, what we achieve?

Well, for me, I didn't believe that I should live in a large house, drive a sports car, or even work for myself. So, if I believed that... I certainly wasn't going to 'realise' that lifestyle.

Does that make sense?

However, once I'd had enough of what I was doing...

(and for me this was commuting each and every day, having to answer to a boss, working long hours and not earning enough money for all my hard work...)

I needed to change my belief... My belief of where I saw myself and what I saw myself doing.

I hope you're still with me, as this is crucial to where you are and what you're doing in 12 months time, 2 years time and even 10 years time.

So what do you need to do?

Well, you really do need a goal, a visual representation of where you see yourself in 2 months time, 4 months time, and 6 months time...

Close your eyes and picture yourself in front of your new house, or sitting in your office at home – working for yourself... Driving your new car, or planning that luxury holiday you've always wanted... and enjoying your financial freedom that your new home-based online business has given you.

Now, what do you need to change... in order to make this happen? For me, I was wasting a few hours here and there watching television, or just trying to switch off (after a long day working for someone else). Well, these hours add up, so if you use these hours just to start thinking... then you've changed perhaps one of the worst habits out there.

I know, I used to do it myself!

If it's not TV, then look at how you spend each and every hour of your day... Can you allocate an hour or so for your future?

I suggest that during this time... you start thinking about where you want to be... I used to have a Picture of a Porsche on the desktop of my computer, and a simple cut out from the newspaper of a beautiful detached house that both my girlfriend and I really liked.

Now this is simple to do, but is very important. It reminds you of why you're doing what you're doing and precisely what your end result will be... financial freedom.

Plus, it makes your dreams real – something that you can indeed touch and feel.

Dreams are good – dreams are what keep us going, but dreams are nothing without action!

Action can and should be very small changes in your belief, and to your habits - each and every week... and before you know it, you'll be dreaming bigger and bigger dreams...

Best wishes,

Article Body:
Now maybe the reason you're interested in setting up a home business is because you've seen an ad somewhere, or you've been approached by someone. It was all about a great work-from-home money-making opportunity, and you're excited. Finally, you can quit your job!

If you're thinking of working from home by someone else's rules, though, you have to realise that at least 99% of the offers out there are scams – after all, if it was that easy to pay a few dollars and make thousands, wouldn't everyone be doing it by now? Here are the biggest scams out there, how to recognise them, and how to avoid them.

Location, Location, Location.

Where did you see that work from home offer? If you got it in the post, or by email, or saw it on a poster taped around a telephone pole, then I can guarantee you right now that it's not a legitimate offer. If you saw the ad in a newspaper, in a jobs magazine or on a jobs website, then it's a little more likely to be legit – but not much. Always check out any offer, and assume it's a scam until you have iron-clad proof to the contrary.

Envelope Stuffing.

This is the most established work-from-home scam, and it's been going for decades now. Basically, once you pay your money and sign up to work from home, you're sent a set of envelopes and ads just like the one you responded to. You might make some money if someone responds to your ad, but eventually there just won't be a market for it any more. Anyway, work from home offers like this are illegal pyramid schemes.

You won't make any money putting letters in envelopes – get over it.

Charging for Supplies.

The practice of charging for supplies is hard to pin down to any one scam – it's the way almost all work-at-home scams work (including the envelope stuffing, above). You'll be asked to make a small 'investment' for whatever materials would be needed to do the work – and then you'll be sent very shoddy materials that aren't worth anything like what you paid, and you'll find that there's no market for the work anyway.

If anyone asks for money upfront, run. A real company should be willing to deduct any 'fees' from your first paycheque – if they won't do that for you, then that's because they don't ever plan to pay you.

Working for Free.

This variation on the scam is common with crafts. You might be asked to work at home making clothes, ornaments or toys. Everything seems legitimate – you've got the materials without paying out any money, and you're doing the work. Unfortunately for you, when you send the work back, the company will tell you that it didn't meet their 'quality standards', and will refuse to pay you. Then they'll sell on what you made at a profit, and move on to the next sucker.

Never do craft work from home unless you're selling the items yourself. Note that you don't need to be selling to consumers (you could be selling to wholesalers), but you still need to be the one deciding what you make and getting the money.

Home Typing, Medical Billing, and More.

There are lots of work-from-home scams that involve persuading you that some industry has more work than it can handle, and so has to outsource to people working from home. For example, you might be told that you'd be typing legal documents, or entering medical bills into an electronic database. These scams have one thing in common: they all say that all you need is your computer, and they all then go on to say that you need to buy some 'special software'.

This software might appear to be from a completely unrelated company, but don't be fooled – the whole reason the 'work-from-home' ad was there to begin with was simply as cynical marketing for the software.

As you can see, running a 'home business' that just involves 'working' for one company is a bad idea. You don't know who you're dealing with. Here's the clincher, though: even with entirely legal work-at-home offers that do pay you for your work, you still won't make anywhere near as much as you can with your very own home business. So why bother with them at all?

Happened Upon A Book That Shattered My Illusions

Happened Upon A Book That Shattered My Illusions

Word Count:
373

Summary:
It reveals the astonishing story of how the writer took a single idea and turned it into $37,641.85 in just 24 days.

Keywords:
niche, products, online, marketing, book

Article Body:
Back in 2000 I wrote a book "Starting an Internet Business at Home" which was published in hard copy format by Kogan Page (ISBN 0749434848).

It is currently out of print but in its day it was considered hot stuff and sold over 20,000 copies in bookstores world wide.

At the time I though I knew all there was to know about online marketing but a few days ago I happened across a little book by another author that shattered my illusions and exposed how little I really know.

It reveals the astonishing story of how the writer took a single idea and turned it into $37,641.85 in just 24 days.

Moreover, he demonstrates step by step exactly how he did it.

So what did I learn that I didn't know before?

Manifold gems of wisdom on online marketing, including…

1. The building blocks to conducting effective online market research

2. How to develop products in obscure but highly popular niche areas

3. How to create them seamlessly and inexpensively

4. Why falling in love with your produce is the worst mistake you can make

5. An ingenious and incredibly simple strategy for attracting JV partners

6. How to use other people's websites to jack up overall sales

7. A little known but highly reputable POD (print on demand) source where the pricing starts at $5.95 for just ONE book – perfect bound with ISBN and free shipping to customers

Oh, and lots of other useful things, but especially how to repeat another author's proven format over and over again.

So what will I do with my new found wisdom?

Two things in the first instance…

 First off I will breathe some fresh life into several of my own existing self-generated products that started with a bang and died off soon after like damp squibs. Now I know (thanks to another author) how to re-launch them to new heights - and keep them up there.

 Secondly I intend to venture into new pastures and create a whole bunch of innovative products for popular niche markets I didn't even know existed.

If you would like to learn more about the little book that shattered my illusions on what I thought I knew a propos online marketing, visit the website featured in the resource box below.

Focus - The Overlooked Difference Between Success And Failure

Focus - The Overlooked Difference Between Success And Failure

Word Count:
502

Summary:
Why "focus" could be the element your business is missing, that will explode your profits.

Keywords:
focus, business success, internet business

Article Body:

How many elements are there to building a successful Internet business?

- Search engine optimization
- Pay per click advertising
- Banner advertising
- Affiliate marketing
- Email marketing
- Building an email list
- Viral marketing

... and they're just for starters. The point is that there are literally *hundreds* of elements that can make your online business a success.

The problem is that this "range" can lead to procrastination or worse - total business failure.

One of the most important disciplines you can adopt in your online business is that of "focus".

Learn to focus on just one element of your business and doggedly keep working at it until you become really, really good.

Until it becomes second nature.

Until it's just so easy for you.

Then, and only then, are you ready to move onto the next element and start trying to focus on that.

This focus doesn't just apply to marketing your business either. It applies to the everyday running of your business. Even creating new sites and products.

The best way to maintain focus on a large project is with planning.

Break down a project such as launching a new project into tiny bitesize pieces - writing an email to be sent out to your mailing list when your product launches, creating pay per click ads, building the sales page, linking up your shopping cart and credit card processing and so on.

Then set a plan of action that will lead you through to your desired result without too much thought. Set yourself targets of what you will achieve when.

In doing this you can simply glance at your plan to decide where you need to focus today then apply yourself 100% to that task.

Only when the task is completed to a satisfactory level do you move onto the next stage.

In doing this you don't need to be thinking or worrying about other tasks you need to accomplish, nor do you need to be filling your brain with a to-do list of other shores to do "sometime".

Your plan is on paper so you can forget about everything else except that one step you promised yourself you'd finish today.

Establishing this focus has been the biggest lesson I have learned over the last few years and has had a massive result on my productivity and consequently my results.

My business is now growing at a pace I could only have wished for just a few short years ago.

One of the biggest mistakes I see new Internet entrepreneurs making is just "treading water". Making an advert here. Writing part of an article there. Creating half an ebook there. Starting a sales letter but not finishing it.

This unfocused time will never bring the results you crave.

One completed job will bring infinitely more profit than 100 half-finished projects.

So adopt this policy today and watch your results go through the roof.

I know it's hard when you first start, but trust me - once you start seeing your bank balance swell you'll never look back.

Article Marketing and Content Cheapskates

Article Marketing and Content Cheapskates

Article Body:
I see this everywhere and still cannot believe that people do not get it. Content is still king on the web. The most important thing you will ever do for your website is to put in good content. Great content will get you links and your position in the search engine results will be because of the content you put into your website.

Hundreds of back links will not get you ranked well with poor content. Great content will get you good keyword positioning with or without back links, therefore, content is still the most important aspect of your website. Great design, flash, graphics, and a cool banner will not get you ranked well for your keywords and phrases. Great content will!

Let's first look at the content in your website. Images are great with alt tags. That helps. But it is the text on the pages that, when done correctly, will help your search engine results. This text is also what will convert your customers into sales.

This text is what your customers will read or not read based on it's quality. This same text is what the search engines will analyze when they decide how relevant your WebPages are to the search phrase you wish them to send you visitors from.

Now, let us talk about article marketing.  If you know about article marketing at all, you know you will be submitting articles all over the web. The links in the author bio at the bottom return visitors to your website if they read and like the articles, you write or have written for you.

Just having your articles in thousands of article directories is not the goal of article marketing, although there are article-marketing gurus out there who think it is. The goal is for webmasters to find those articles and place them in their blogs and websites. If they use your article, their website or blog is likely related to the same topic as your website.

You are looking for these quality links. The links for just being in the article directories do not hurt you, but they do not help nearly as much as those from related websites do.

Your other hope is that thousands of people read your articles. Do you really want people to read poorly written articles and associate that poor quality with your website? Well-written articles get people to read them all the way to the bottom where your links are located. Well-written articles reflect well on your website.

If the articles are of great quality then likely your products and services must be great as well. The reverse is also true in the reader's minds. If the articles are written poorly, then likely your products and services are of little or no value as well. It is not only about the number of keywords and phrases placed into the article folks.

With all of that being said, I still find all over the web, especially at freelancer websites, people going in and saying things like; "I need 400 articles written for SEO and I'm willing to pay $1.50 per article." Or they say something like; "I need someone to write content for my website and I'm only willing to pay $10 per page."

I really try to refrain from telling people they are, well . . . stupid, but I am finding it harder and harder each day when I read this stuff.

They will spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to have their website designed so it looks really pretty, but the text, the stuff that will actually get good search engine results and sales, they don't want to spend any money on.

Writers that know how to write text that not only is appealing to the reader, but that is also written with the keywords and phrases in mind, are worth being paid well. The moment you start hiring better writers and paying for text that converts sales, you will begin to be successful on the web. That cheap content is not going to make you any money.

A website that is beautiful but gets no traffic and sales may as well be an ugly website. An ugly website that ranks well in the search engine and that makes sales gets more beautiful by the dollar.

Blogging: The New Frontier for your AUP

Blogging: The New Frontier for your AUP

Word Count:
815

Summary:
Blogging is a new frontier for the corporate world and requires security, awareness and education considerations in a corporations acceptable use policy.

Keywords:
internet filters,internet filtering,internet monitoring

Article Body:
Building an acceptable use policy for blogging can be one of the tougher jobs for a company's human resources and internal security divisions to develop. Blogging is a rapidly growing mode of communication that provides readers with material on everything from the day-to-day comments of authors, movie stars, characters on soap operas to hard-hitting news articles and columns. The growth of blogging has given rise to a multitude of programs and tools designed to help everyone from the personal blogger to corporate users.

But how does blogging affect an organization's Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP)? In order to address blogging accurately in an AUP, you must first define what constitutes a blog.  The word "blog" is actually a shortened version of "web log" and is similar to a message board in that one can post thoughts and opinions to be read by others.  A blog can be viewed by the public or accessible only via password depending on how the owners have set it up.  Blogs can provide in-depth information about specific topics or they can be a place for writers to vent their feelings, but their ultimate goal is to bring readers together and then encourage interaction among them.

Blogging can be a harmless and interesting way to communicate with like-minded others but, like any unmanaged activity, the opportunity for abuse is always there. If an organization's AUP addresses their Instant Messaging, Peer-to-Peer, email and other Web-based communications, they need to consider blogging as an important technology to include. Organizations should decide of they want their employees to be able to read blogs or post to them as part of an overall communications policy.

What are the ramifications of no AUP where blogs are concerned? The rapid growth rate of blogs in the country means that entire services like MyFamily.com and MyPlace.com are hosting communities of bloggers. A criminal utilized personal data posted in some blogs to stalk and attack young high-school girls.

Employees that post their identities and information to a response on a blog can influence decisions. For example, if an employee of a major computer corporation responded to a technical blog with advice about avoiding a new product line because of a lot of known 'bugs' the company is leaving itself open to legal exposure. Corporations require employees to sign non-disclosure agreements for a reason, the threat of exposure where company confidential information and intellectual property is concerned could have devastating financial consequences.

This is only one example, there are many others.  If a person severely disagrees with the content of a blog and starts what is known as a 'flame' war with the blogger through the comments section, the corporation may be held liable for the harassment if the employee is posting the responses through the corporation's computers. What happens on company computers, whether permissible or not, is the responsibility of the company. They are considered legally culpable.

There are legal and financial reasons to be very clear in the AUP with regards to blogging. Some corporations, although only a small percentage, employ software that screens where and how an employee can browse the web. If there are filters preventing an employee from viewing a pornographic website, then there can be filters that prevent the viewing of political or day trading blogs. Blogs that focus on financial and business issues are growing more popular every day. These blogs may be a source of entertainment and information, but it is up to the corporation to decide the level of involvement that an employee may have.

It's worth mentioning that anonymous guests can read most blogs, although they may not be able to post comments or responses. Blogs can be enormous resources for students, educators and other individuals for discussion, debate and the sharing of experiences. However, they need to be controlled and monitored.  Blogs are an excellent marketing tool, hooking visitors into the site by providing them with financial advice or credit building tips, for example. The marketing a blog can provide can translate into tens of thousands of hits a day for a site. It's also important for some companies to get their message out there; blogs can put a human face on a company that seems only to be a corporate entity. That human face can improve customer relations, invite consumer contact and increase company visibility.  However, employees should be educated about the type of information they are allowed to post if they are allowed to respond.

Companies that maintain their own blogs should be particularly attuned to the commentary they generate. Blogging is a new frontier for the corporate world, but as with many prior innovations, they are quickly taking advantage of it.  Security, awareness and education will help corporations, employees and even their families from suffering negative experiences while blogging, reading blogs or responding to a blog on the Internet.

There are a lot of people who would love to be able to create a cool informational product and be able to make a great living (even get rich) while sitting in a comfy chair in front of their computers knowing that never again would they have to drive in rush hour traffic with all those crazies or put up with an unrelenting, over zealous boss who never had and never would or could be pleased. What a beautiful vision! The truth is that that lovely vision can become a reality but you will have to pay your dues first. Successful niche markets for an informational product don't grow on trees or fall out of the sky.
The first thing you need and must have to create an informational product is an idea...a subject...a topic...that will fill the needs, solve a problems, or just make life better for some particular and very specific segment of the general population. You are surrounded by ideas if you just look. Look at yourself first. What is your biggest problem? Do your friends share the problem? Are you passionate about a hobby or a sport? These kinds of things are the stuff of which informational products are made of. So the very first thing you need is to identify a topic and, thereby, a market.
Another thing that you need to have in order to create an informational product which will become successful is research. Every topic and every subject are not going to make money. Many of them will...but just as many will not. The best research is accomplished by reading and talking to people who have succeeded in niche marketing informational products. Savvy niche marketers can spot a great topic from forty paces with one eye shut. Ask. Read. Research.
When you have an idea and have done the research that has proven that there is a market for your informational product, the rest is just a matter of creating the product building a great website and advertising it.

Enthuses eBay University instructor Janelle Elms (http://JanelleElms.com), "EBay has taken all the data from their category managers, and given you a list of exactly what items are going to be hot this year in all the different categories, from antiques to computers to toys."

Not only that, they give you the keywords that buyers have traditionally typed in to find those items. You need to pay special attention to those keywords because it does you no good to source all the right products and list them under terms no one is searching for. You can't assume that you know what buyers are going to call things for a number of reasons:

•People from various geographical areas give the same items completely different names. You may never have heard anyone from your area call your item by a certain name, but that might be the only thing people from another locale have ever called it.

•People often type in very specific words or terms that you wouldn't know unless you were an expert in that particular category. A buyer searching for Star Wars figurines may type in "ROTJ" for "Return of the Jedi." But unless, besides being an online retailer, you're also a Star Wars enthusiast, you wouldn't know to include that term in your headline.

Holiday Catalog

The holiday catalog goes out to eBay's top buyers, filled with buyer recommendations. However, it may prove even more useful to eBay's smart sellers—what better way to get product sourcing ideas than to see what items eBay is promoting to their top buyers? Advises Elms, "Use eBay's advertising dollars and go source the products that eBay is putting in front of buyers."

In addition to giving buyers ideas of what to look for this holiday season, eBay is also telling buyers how to find those products and making keyword suggestions. The recommendations are very specific: Shoei motorcycle helmets, Alpine Star motorcycle jackets, Under Amour shirts, etc. This is immensely helpful to you, as a seller, because it lets you know what keywords you need to be including in your titles.

The holidays are your prime selling season, but you have to prepare and do your sourcing ahead of time. If you're getting a late start this year, don't despair. Take advantage of eBay's holiday tools to see what you should be stocking up on and how you should be getting those items in front of buyers. With the right products and the right keywords, you're putting yourself in position to capitalize on the biggest selling opportunity of the year.

Would you believe a rumour that tells you that Google is going to ban the publishers that practice Adsense Arbitrage? Well, then I suppose you don't agree with me that Google would commit suicide. After all, the Adword/Adsense system that Google uses is arbitrage.

What Google wants to get rid of are the sites that convert poor for the advertisers. Imagen yourself paying dollars per click to get visitors to your site and you see your ad on one of those crappy 'Made For Adsense' websites. Chances are that you want to take your ads of those sites right away. There's no quality content on those sites that gives the searcher the information he or she is looking for.

Google is going after publishers that return bad ROI for the advertiser. Google has never said that they are going after Adsense Arbitrage publishers.

Suppose you use an Adwords campaign to send traffic to your website With Adsense ads. If that website has quality content on it and is relevant to what the searcher has typed in the search bar, then you are doing exactly what Google wants you to do. Give relevant quality information to the searcher. You are NOT violating Google's TOS.

The Quality Score of your Adwords campaign will improve and as a result you will pay less CPC (Cost per Click) and your ad will be displayed higher in the Sponsored Links.

What would be the result if you optimize your website to a quality website? Besides the traffic you get from your advertising campaign, Google will love to index a website like that. They need quality information for the searchers.

Affiliate marketers using PPC advertising are practicing arbitrage, because they often invest few cents to earn dollar commissions. Of course, in this case the amount of CPC that they pay depends on what niche they advertise in. And very often the searcher ends up on a landing page with a product review. If that review is relevant to what the searcher searches for, the advertiser and affiliate is doing exactly what Google wants. Again, this will increase the quality score of the Adwords campaign.

Conclusion: Adsense Arbitrage is not a 'bad' thing that will get you banned from Google Adsense. On the other hand, building crappy websites, such as the 'Made For Adsense sites', and sending traffic from a Google Adwords account to those sites is not recommended anymore. A logical thought is that Google will never index those sites and will let the advertiser pay high CPC inc case of arbitrage. Will this cost you your Adsense account? That's up to Google to decide....

You have a great corporate identity, so why is it that Bob from Technical Support in Sheffield has a business card on 300g mat and is a different size to Sarah from the London sales office. Not only that, but the type faces are both wrong. Fortunately, they both have our logo. Unfortunately, they're a different colour. Sounds familiar? I've seen this happen repeatedly in global operations, even within the same department.

Without a system in place to enforce brand identity guidelines, the effect of a company's visual identity will be diluted. At the very least, a company should have a Corporate Identity Guide that contains the design and print specifications of everything from business stationery to vehicle livery. It doesn't have to be a printed guide. Many companies make this information available to appropriate staff and suppliers via a secure section of the company website.

A Corporate Identity Guide is useless if its guidelines are not enforced. The simplest way to protect corporate identity is by using the technology that is available to us via web to print systems. Not the 'design your own' business card websites you will frequently find on the internet aimed at sole traders, but custom templates that are built on corporate print on-line e-procurement systems.

Artwork templates for web to print can be extremely complex. One of the simplest of all might appear to be a business card. But, there is difficulty in dealing with the large variations of telephone numbers, email addresses and URLs. Each one has to have the information carefully positioned in the correct place. The reality is that business cards can be the most complex template for a large organisation, but they also demonstrate the power of using on-line templates.

Now imagine that you have to give new business cards to about 5000 employees because of a re-brand. Not only that, but you have over 500 offices. With on-line ordering, you can make new cards available to order for all office employees and have them printed and dispatched in days. As all the artwork specifications are enforced automatically, the cards will all display the corporate identity accurately.

This demonstrates one of the real benefits of web to print. The most powerful arguments for ordering simple personalised products in this way were illustrated to me by rolling out volume print projects. In one case the Managing Director of a company in question, when overseeing a huge order for a re-brand, said to me, "Aha!, so that's why we're doing this". Seeing is believing.

Many folks dream of having their own online home business, working the hours that are convenient to them, answering to no one and having all the free time they want in order to spend all that money they are going to earn. Starting a home online business can wind up being rewarding, but not as easy as many people may believe and there are five things you will need to consider before making the plunge.

Tip #1. You will have to establish a work time schedule. The myth of working whatever hours you choose is one of the biggest attractions to starting an online home business, but not scheduling a set number of hours in which to do the work is an invitation to fail. The time you schedule does not have to be the same as traditional business hours since your online business is open all day, every day. They can be any hours you choose, but there needs to be a set number of hours dedicated to the business every day.

The thought of working in your pajamas is another selling point to many home businesses, especially those based on the internet, but realistically offering a professional service requires a professional attitude and, realistically, how professional can you be in your pajamas. Maybe you can trade in the suit and tie for t-shirt and jeans, but being ready for an online home business should not be any different than getting ready for a traditional job.

Tip #2. Establish an area in the home in which you will work. Whether it is a spare bedroom transformed into an office or a section of the kitchen carved into a home office is irrelevant. What matters is that you, as well as the rest of the family understand that this is your place of employment. Interruptions and conflicts are not appreciated nor will they be tolerated.

Tip #3. Establish an online presence for your business. Many who work an online home business do not see the need for having their own website, especially if the business provides one for free. Understand that with marketing, having your own online presence can direct traffic directly to you and not one of possibly thousands of other websites offering the same type of service or product as you offer.

Tip #4. You will need to let others know about the services you offer and the easiest and possibly most cost-effective way to do this is through networking. When many working an online home business hear the term networking, a shiver goes up their spine. Forget for a moment about online network marketing and think about all the networking you are already involved with. If you belong to a social or professional organization, you are networking.

Tip #5. You are the best selling item in your inventory. Whether selling a service or a product the first things potential customers will see is you. Being able to sell yourself to others is a huge step in building a successful online home business.

Mark sought my help because he was thinking of leaving his wife, Linda. He had not been feeling in love with Linda for a long time, but they had two children and he really didn't want to break up the family.

"Mark," I asked, "Were you ever in love with Linda?"

"Yes, at the beginning of our relationship."

"Then what happened?"

"Linda seemed to get really insecure once I started my new business and had long work days. Even though I think I gave her a lot of attention on the weekends, she started getting angry pretty much every day. Then after our son was born, she seemed even more unhappy and irritable. She gets mean when she's angry and I just don't find that appealing. I don't feel close to her anymore."

"Have you said anything to her about this?" I asked.

"No," he replied. "She already seems so unhappy. I don't want to hurt her feelings."

"So how do you handle it?"

"I guess I just sort of shut down and pretend that everything is okay. But I'm spending more and more time at work because I don't like being at home and recently I met another woman that I'm attracted to. I realize I've got to do something about this."

"Do you really think that leaving her will cause less hurt than telling her your truth?"

"Well, if I just leave then I don't have to deal with her hurt."

"Mark, that's a lack of courage and integrity. And you have two children to think about. You once loved Linda and it's possible that you could again, but only if you are willing to be honest. You need to give Linda a chance to deal with this. She has no idea what's going on. She might decide to deal with her anger, or she might not, but at least give her a chance to make that decision. And relationship problems are never one-sided. Perhaps she has things to say to you too."

Mark decided to tell Linda the truth, even though he was really scared. He told her that her anger was pushing him away, and that he didn't like being home anymore because he felt so blamed and controlled by her. He told her that he was attracted to another woman who was treating him with kindness and caring, and that he wanted this from Linda. He told her he had been thinking of leaving and had sought my help and that I told him to tell the truth. He asked her if she would join him in counseling.

Linda was shocked. She had no idea all this was going on with Mark. She thought she was the only one feeling so unloved in the relationship. At first she reacted exactly as Mark feared, with anger, hurt, and blame. But he told her the truth about this too – that he had been afraid to be truthful with her because of this reaction, and that if she wanted the truth, she need to be open to it rather than closed and angry. Finally Linda heard him and they were able to talk honestly for the first time in years. Linda was actually relieved at hearing the truth, once she got over the initial shock and they were able to talk. She agreed to counseling.

In counseling, Mark discovered that Linda also had been afraid to be honest with Mark, fearing that he would withdraw even more. She was just as afraid of his withdrawal as he was of her anger. They discovered that both of them had been protecting against their fears rather than being open to learning with each other. As they both opened to learning, the love gradually came back into their relationship.

People often believe that they are withholding their truth to spare their partner pain, but their real intent is to protect themselves from the response they fear. Protecting against pain – with anger, withdrawal, and blame - will always bring about the very pain we fear, while opening to learning and speaking our truth opens the door to love.
